BROOKLYN, Mich. -- In the finishing order at MIS, Fords were on the short end of the stick.

The lone positives were a 3rd-place run by Joey Logano, who has been in a funk lately and needed good news, and an 8th-place run from Roush-Fenway driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Beyond that it was pretty disappointing, though Darrell Wallace Jr. did do better in his second go-around in the Petty #43 car, finishing 19th.

On Twitter after the race, Ford team owner Tony Stewart showed he’s not going to stop speaking his mind even though he’s retired from driving in the Cup series.

He congratulated his friend Kyle Larson on the win, but was not happy with a late debris caution, which led to trouble for several of his drivers -- including a wreck and last-place finish for Danica Patrick.

“It’s  a shame that so many drivers and teams day was ruined by the results of another “debris” caution towards the end of the race today,” Tony wrote.

And for those who didn’t like his tweet, he added: “And just a thought, if you don’t like what I have to say, you can unfollow me at anytime. Just saying”

Now that’s the Tony Stewart we know and love. And he does have a point. Often the debris cautions do appear to for something imaginary, though it’s a double-edged sword; as NASCAR can’t appear to take debris lightly and then have it cause damage to vehicles or an accident.

Getting back to Joey Logano, he was very happy with his third-place finish, which can serve as a momentum swing for the 22 team.

“Yeah, you have no idea how good this feels. It’s been a struggle the last month-and-a-half and it’s nice to come here to Michigan, maybe our best race track and be able to overcome a lot,” he said after the race. “I’m not sure we had a third-place car today but the team executed like they needed to get the Shell-Pennzoil Ford into the top-three. Proud of the effort. I wish I could have the last restart back. I think I could have gotten to second. Turning the momentum a bit and bringing home a solid top-five and change things.”

Another reason Joey was in a good mood on Sunday: He had big news about his family. After the race, he posted on Twitter: “Wanted to announce this in Victory Lane. Thrilled to say Brittany and I are expecting a Little Logano on 1/11/18”

A fitting Father’s Day post if there ever was one.
